This column continues with some further Swanson discussion; was one group descended from the Marquis of Montrose? Then the majority is an interesting overview of the role of Coroner (Crowner) which is of importance in an historic sense, but it is does not use Gunn Crowner actual examples

· William Swanson in Broynach before 1700. Mrs James Sutherland d. 25 February 1882 at her home on the corner of Dufferin Avenue and Colborn Street London Ontario.. she was aged 72 years and 6 months... mother of Daniel Sutherland, Cuba.... member of St. Andrew’s Church... husband died in 1863. She was Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Thomas Swanson, manager Crown Lands who died at Lyth... Caithness in 1827 aged about 40....tradition among her Swansons that they were in the male descent really Grahams, several assuming this surname...It was from an ancestress in 1650 they took the name Swanson, the ancestor being the celebrated Marquis of Montrose (were they illegitimate?)... viceroy then for King Charles 2... Authentication of the Graham idea given... Alexander Graham.. .his father was a servant to the last Earl of Caithness (Lord Hemer)... William Swanson in Brynach... The sisters and brothers of Mrs Sutherland Canada constantly stated that they were Grahams by male descent, their ancestress a Swanson of Gunn blood... See Chapter 11 of ‘The Inneses of Caithness’..
