Margaret Laurence, Canadian author of 'The Diviners'
I have just come across references to Margaret Laurence's work The Diviners (1974). She seems to have been an exceptional writer and in The Diviners - it sounds a complex text - she created a myth of the 'Tales of Piper Gunn'. 'He is the legendary figure who took the dispossessed Scottish crofters from Sutherland to the Red River valley (of Canada)...' (1)
I have not read the work, but the critique I have read makes The Diviners sound fascinating. It may well be one of those works not by a Gunn but about experiences which relate to the Gunns. Now to find a copy...
