Donald the eldest married a daughter of Sutherland of Torbol, by whom he had a son called Alexander Gunn a M’Hamis who died in Badenloch. His son William died in Dutch service , 1746 or 1747 Alexander Gunn of Killearnan lived there some years after his wife’s death...entrusted Donald is son to manage the affairs...house burnt and lost the papers showing ‘ownership’... Gordon ‘Kilgower’ had influence with lord Sutherland to get the lease... He wouldn’t go so got 120 men to keep violent possession of his lands...force was going to be met by force but wiser heads prevailed... Earl of Sutherland was encouraged to give Badenloch to Donald Gunn ex of Killearnan... Thel ate M’Hamish was his grandson or son of Alexander of Navidale, his son. His son were (Chiefs) William and Morrison...
· Discussion of William Bheg’s line... (Little) going down the normal path... the latter were the ancestors of Gunns of Kinbrace (important). Little William had Donald the Scholar who had two sons; the Melbuie line and the Achinikin line ‘Little William' or his son Donald ‘wadsetted’ Kinbrace for 500 pounds (OR Donald the Scholar had a brother William from whom come the Kinbrace line; see Mark Rugg Gunn page 270 and elsewhere...)
