Donald ‘the Scholar’ Gunn / Adam 'Mulbuie' line
Donald ‘the Scholar’ Gunn / Adam 'Mulbuie' line, being the second son of William ‘bheg’ / ‘beag’ Gunn
being another possible 'Chief' line
being another possible 'Chief' line
The descendants of Donald the Scholar's main line goes like this, according to the trees.
Donald the Scholar has two sons
1. Adam ‘Mulbuie’ 1st son
2. William settled in Achanaichan 2nd son. I will deal with this William next time around.
3. Adam ‘Mulbuie’ had William
4. William had Adam
5. Adam had William
6. This William had three sons (order not known)
· John who had son Alexander ‘Osclay’ who had sons Alexander, William, James, George, John, Robert and Adam. (see next post.)
· Alexander ‘Dunbeath’ who had son Donald ‘Dunbeath’ who had son Alexander ‘Dornoch’ who had son Donald.
· Adam who had two sons, the Reverend William Gunn Golspie (who had one son Adam who died without issue in Jamaica) and the Reverend Robert Gunn Latheron dead in 1819. Had a numerous family died 1819 (son Reverend Thomas Gunn Free Church Madderly 1868 who had son Robert London 1869, further son William Gordon Gunn M.D. who had 3 sons-abstracted from the rough copy-Cecil, Gordon and ?) Biographies of those in bold are below.
Now, worth noting that Thomas Sinclair, page 120-121 records the following (the Sinclair material is not from the ‘Appendix’ section where he might have seen the above material. He uses ‘Milbuie’, but the charts have ‘Mulbuie’.)
‘...the elder line, Adam in Milbuie, William, Adam (with brothers John and Alexander), Adam, William (with brother Alexander in Dunbeath father of Alexander Dornoch), Adam, Rev. Robert (with brother Rev. Thomas) William (with brother Rev. Thomas, having a son Robert) and Gordon
Mark Rugg Gunn see page 270 which has a lot in common and some 'errors'.
There are a lot of similarities between these two family trees, but some differences. Can one really believe all these lines have died out which is what one is meant to believe if one agrees with the Family Convention? (I note the Rev. Robert Gunn seems to have had eighteen children.) The similarities in the trees suggest an underlying truth about the genealogy. (Update- they haven't see next post.)

The below adds further detail to some of the above lives and is from http://histfam.familysearch.org/getperson.php?personID=I91446&tree=Fasti which seems to be based on FASTI ECCLESIIE SCOTICANIE; THE SUCCESSION OF MINISTERS IN THE CHURCH OF SCOTLAND FROM THE REFORMATION by HEW SCOTT, D.D. 1928 EDITIONsee http://www02.us.archive.org/stream/fastiecclesiaesc00scot/fastiecclesiaesc00scot_djvu.txt Note the 1928 source, one suspects it is more accurate than Sinclair. I have given both versions of their lives.

Worth noting Mark Rugg Gunn's chart page 270 which in essence agrees with the above but is much more limited in detail.
