Mainly on Henderson history and genealogy; Thomas Sinclair 'Clan Gunn Supplement 22', 12 May 1903
REVIEW
Basically this is just an account of various Hendersons, with something of a focus on Henry Gunn, a son of the Coroner. Very little of interest, in my opinion, for general Gunn history and genealogy.
Worth noting http://clangunn1.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/henry-youngest-son-of-gunn-crowner.html
KEY ISSUES / PEOPLE / PHRASING
· Gaunson family (being the name derived from the boy survivor in the previous supplement – Gavin). But it comes from improbable Henry, son of the Coroner / crowner. Why improbable? Henry was 1464 and by 1580 only had one male representative? And then from this child came all the Hendersons? The robber story is so well known there may be truth to it. 1760 there was an interesting robber who used people’s own horses to take away the corn he stole... Robert Manson Sinclair of Bridgend Watten often suffered; he was called Alister of the Brae (Braemore?)
· Then there is s a ton of material on Henderson family genealogy which is just a bit too far away from my concerns to spend much time copying lots out. If you are interested in Henderson family early genealogy it may well be worth a close read. 1700s on... Westerdale Hendersons, Dunbar of Hempriggs, one ‘had Tormsdale and Westerdale’ in 1701. Achlibster, Ulgrimbeg, Clyth farm. The lairds of Westerdale intermarried with the lairds of Stemster, Swansons, Sinclair, Graemsay Orkney, two married Gunn clergymen, Bilbster, Keiss, Rosebank Wick. Donald Henderson farmer Dunn d 1888 lineage given. Henryson. Langwell. Ulbster. Gerston. Military Hendersons.
· 1456 note from Henry Gunn son of the Coroner. Gunn Keith battle again. 1314? Various Henderson families, not all Gunns...
· MacDonalds of Glencoe. Bannoockburn. Hendersons of Glencoe.
