Clan Gunn Origin not Orkney / Norse / Viking Given how important the supposedly Orkney / Norse origin Clan Gunn was meant to be before Gunn Coroner (wrongly called George Gunn Crowner) why are there no Norse place names associated with the Clan Gunn in Sutherland? There are, after all, many Norse personal names which are included in place names in Sutherland, see pages 11 and 12 of Alex MacBain's Place names Highlands & Islands of Scotland.
Answer? The Clan Gunn has no Orkney / Norse origin and so have no Norse (or any other) place names attached to it. For more on the sheer impossibility of Clan Gunn having an Orkney / Norse / Viking origin see http://clangunn.weebly.com/why-gunns-are-not-of-norse--orkney-descent.html Clan Gunn real origin? Contemplate the Caereni tribe mentioned by Ptolemy in 150 AD for the 'Strathnaver area'.
