Clan Gunn Convention – reflection
... an elected Chief is alien to the whole principle of Celtic civilisation ...
Thomas Innes, Lord Lyon page xxii from his Foreword to Frank Adams and Thomas Innes The Clans, Septs and Regiments of the The Scottish Highlands 1934 Whilst waiting for Lord Lyon to make his judgment about the motion made at the Clan Gunn ‘Chief’ Convention I think a statement of my key concerns about it is appropriate.
I agree with Lord Lyon Sellar’s interlocutor that ‘there is in all probability clear and proveable lines of descent senior to that of the present Commander’ from the old Clan Gunn Chief line. Given that, Lord Lyon Blair’s judgment that a Convention should not nominate who they like if bloodlines from the old Chief line exist should apply. Given the above I voted against the motion to nominate the Commander as Chief of the Clan Gunn.

I voted against this too in the brief momentary opportunity I had to do so at the CGS AGM in 2013. I wrote to the Lord Lyon to oppose the appointment of the Commander as chief. But no one seemed to be listening. If I can do anything to support your cause and the excellent research behind it, do let me know. Crowd source funding for a court action perhaps?
