On the creation of a third Clan Gunn ‘Chief’ line, even though the first two lines are not extinct16/10/2015 My views on the above can be found here - http://clangunn.weebly.com/the-new-3rd-clan-gunn-chief-line.html

For detailed, new discussion of descent from Chief Donald Crotach Gunn 6th Mackeamish, which should have been discussed at the Clan Gunn Convention but wasn't, see http://clangunn.weebly.com/clan-gunn-chief---descent-from-donald-crotach-gunn-6th-mackeamish.html
Given my work on the Braehour and the Osclay lines I think the real Clan Gunn Chief descnds from the John Gunn in Durness line. See http://clangunn.weebly.com/real-clan-gunn-chief---john-gunn-in-durness.html
See http://clangunn.weebly.com/clan-gunn-chief---braehour-line.html for discussion of a line which should have been discussed at the Clan Gunn Convention.
Clan Gunn Convention – reflection
... an elected Chief is alien to the whole principle of Celtic civilisation ...
Thomas Innes, Lord Lyon page xxii from his Foreword to Frank Adams and Thomas Innes The Clans, Septs and Regiments of the The Scottish Highlands 1934 Whilst waiting for Lord Lyon to make his judgment about the motion made at the Clan Gunn ‘Chief’ Convention I think a statement of my key concerns about it is appropriate.
I agree with Lord Lyon Sellar’s interlocutor that ‘there is in all probability clear and proveable lines of descent senior to that of the present Commander’ from the old Clan Gunn Chief line. Given that, Lord Lyon Blair’s judgment that a Convention should not nominate who they like if bloodlines from the old Chief line exist should apply. Given the above I voted against the motion to nominate the Commander as Chief of the Clan Gunn. |
